Larry Hirschhorn (Founding Artistic Director) Larry founded the Melting Pot in 1997. Under his leadership, in just seven years the company has produced 14 off-Broadway plays and musicals, three children’s theatre productions, and numerous readings and workshops. Larry comes from a professional acting background with credits that include theatre, film, and TV. He holds a BFA from Ithaca College and an M.Ed. in Educational Theatre from NYU. In addition to producing and directing, Larry has been a guest artist and instructor with the Metropolitan Opera Guild’s “Creating Original Opera” program and a guest lecturer at Ithaca College.

Sean Patrick Flahaven (Managing Director) Sean joined the Melting Pot in 2002. He has served in artistic and administrative capacities with major Broadway and off-Broadway companies and has presented over 100 shows, workshops, readings, and concerts. He is also a playwright, composer, conductor, and orchestrator.  His work has been performed in New York, New Jersey, Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Delaware, Chicago, and at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, Ireland.  Sean has had the privilege of working with Stephen Sondheim on a dozen projects. He has also worked on countless new musicals, including Adam Guettel’s Myths & Hymns and Michael John LaChiusa’s The Wild Party. He has also been an arts journalist for ten years, with over 200 articles published.  A native of Minnesota, he received two degrees with multiple honors from Boston College, an MFA in Musical Theatre Writing from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and an MFA in Performing Arts Management from Brooklyn College.  He teaches at NYU-Tisch.
